Frequently Asked Questions

NSW Kart School is a coaching service who hire out the private practise track at Sydney Premier Karting Park and run karting lessons and camps for kids and adults at all different levels. They have two aims

  1. to let people ‘try out’ karting in two-stroke racing karts to see if it a sport they’re truly interested in (before committing thousands of dollars and many hours)
  2. developing drivers (and their mechanics’) skills in order to get their racing license with Karting NSW and eventually standing on the podium

We currently run three different courses

  1. Come and Try
  2. Level 1 Road to Racing
  3. Level 2 Road to the Podium

Kart School sessions are currently held on the private practise track at Sydney Premier Karting Park at Eastern Creek, next door to Sydney Motorsport Park.

Kart School is run once a month, most months, with extra sessions often being held during school holidays (hoping to expand to twice per month shortly at the rate we are currently growing).

Check the Calendar here or the events as listed on Facebook here

  1. Come and Try Day – Anyone who wants to try karting a s a sport in actual 2 stroke racing karts (most hire kart venues run four stroke karts )
  2. Level 1 – Anyone who has significant hire kart experience (or other motorsport) and is totally comfortable with basic controls of a go kart. Aimed at people who want to improve their driving with the introduction of basic racing lines, braking and acceleration points etc
  3. Level 2 – People who are already racing and want to move up to the podium. We educate you on more advanced racing lines, braking and accelerating, passing techniques as well as kart setup and feedback.

We follow Karting NSW rules and run in specific age groups

  1. 7-12 year olds (Novice and Rookies)
  2. 13-16 year olds (Juniors)
  3. 17+ Seniors

The cost varies depending on which course you are doing and whether you are hiring karts and/or safety equipment. Ranges from $100 to $450

Do you need to have your own go-kart? No. Part of the reason for starting the school is to give people a taste or experience before they commit the many thousands of dollars it takes to get setup with your own karts, safety gear, tools, trailer etc etc. It breaks our heart to see all of the posts on Facebook of parents selling equipment (usually brand new) that has only seen a few hours of use before they realised that the sport wasn’t for them.

NO!

We can hire you a kart and all of the required equipment including helmets, gloves, race suits, boots, rib protectors and neck protectors.

Our sister company NSW Kart Team is an official Tony Kart dealer as well as numerous other racing related products such as Brisk Spark Plugs, Global Racing Oil products… you can check out those products via the NSW Kart Shop section of our website at https://nswkartteam.com.au/nswkart-shop/

Start with lots of practise! The requirement with the governing body in NSW (Karting NSW) is to pass a written exam and a driving test (where your lap time should be within 10% of people racing in that class, at that track, in similar conditions. Our Level1 course takes you through all of the necessary steps to reach this. We also have a more detailed response on our website http:// as do Karting NSW https://www.kartingnsw.com.au/get-started/

NSW Kart School sets itself apart in several ways:

  1. We exclusively offer 2-stroke racing karts for hire.
  2. Instead of merely cutting laps with anyone, we ensure you’re paired with individuals possessing similar skill levels.
  3. Our training days are well-structured, beginning with simple concepts and gradually escalating as mastery is achieved.
  4. We have our coaches trackside for real-time guidance and use cones on the track for enhanced learning.
  5. During our “Come and Try” days and initial Level 1 days, we focus more on learning and less on competition. We don’t even track lap times or encourage racing against each other at these stages!
